Twitch hit an all-time high in November with approximately 1.7 billion hours watched, according to a report released by Arsenal.gg, cloud-based streaming platform StreamElements’ analytics partner. This represents a marginal, less than one percent bump from October.

The Just Chatting section also hit an all-time high with 228 million hours watched, a 14 percent increase from the previous month. November is the seventh consecutive month in which Just Chatting was the most popular category on Twitch.

Top streamer rankings saw an upset as Hasan “HasanAbi” Piker dropped to the number two spot, usurped by Alexandre “Gaules” Borba. Felix “xQcOW” Lengyel remains behind Piker in third place. If Borba takes the top spot again in December, he ties Lengyel for most months as Twitch’s No. 1 watched streamer.

According to Arsenal.gg’s report, most games decreased in hours watched in November. Riot Games’ League of Legends was the top streamed game with 116 million hours watched; however, this signified a 30 percent month-over-month decrease in viewership. Minecraft and World of Warcraft are the exceptions to this trend, with 60 percent and 64 percent growth, respectively.

The Beauty category also saw significant year-over-year growth with 441 percent growth since the start of the year with 117 thousand hours watched. The category peaked in October (due largely to Halloween cosplay) with 349 hours watched.

“Women are more than 40 percent of the gaming lifestyle scene, making livestreaming platforms the next frontier for beauty products.” Doron Nir, CEO of StreamElements, said. “Over the past 12 months, we’ve seen the beauty category on Twitch grow over 260 percent in terms of hours watched with cosmetic brands like L’Oreal, MAC, NYX, Em, Hero, and e.l.f. already dipping their toes in the water.”

Facebook Gaming saw just over 300 million hours watched in November, bringing the platform to 100 percent year-over-year growth.

YouTube Gaming released its own report for 2020 viewership last week.
